DAY 1 AT MT CARDIGAN-Human-enviroment-interaction BY NED C

On day 1 on of the Mt Cardigan trip we took a bus ride up to Cardigan. Our bags traveled up in a trailer. When we got to the lodge the staff of the AMC took us to a field to play some games and sort us into our bunk rooms. After that we took our bags inside and got ready to hike. After we went outside and got sorted into our hiking groups. With my hiking group lead by Josh we set off to welton falls. We stopped for lunch once in the woods and meet up with Mr Woolner my Geography teacher. As we walked on we saw cellar holes one had a tree that was growing out of it. We mesered the tree and some of us skechted it. It was also a sign of human enviroment interaction. Later we went by a tree that had was two tree entwined together. As I walked I picked up stick and testing them with they would make a good walking stick. Then we got to welton falls it was really cool. There were gard rails that were old and rusted but held up and kept us from falling in. We sketched it and then continued to a cool basswood tree with sap suker holes. We went a little farther and found maple suryp tap in trees. There were logs that had been cut down and still had the bark on them there were probly going to go to a mill and then to a store so people could buy luber for all sorts of things. After we turned back we stopped with another group and Mr Woolner told us a story about the hemlock trees. When we got back we had free time until dinner so I played outside. For dinner we had spaghetti and meatballs. After dinner we headed out with our hiking groups to do our night hike. All in all I had a very good day one at Mt Cardigan.
